That brings a smile and a little nod, both gentle as he brushes the back of his hand over Steve's face. He knew he had gotten worked up for nothing, waiting for his insides to unknot themselves before leaning in and kissing the corner of Steve's mouth with an outpouring of affection, unable to contain it any longer. His tongue comes up to catch some syrup before he pulls away entirely and wraps his hand back around his coffee cup.
While caffeine does effect Sam, he knows he's sleepy enough that it won't matter. And even if he can't sleep he gets to lay in bed with Steve and watch him, so really he wins either way. "That sounds perfect, babe." He's been trying out different pet names to see what might stick, as he's sure Steve has noticed, leaning his chin on his other hand to watch the other man finish his food. "We can call her later, when humans are awake."
