As she pulls away, he hates himself for his cowardice. The world, the galaxy, could come to an end and he won't even kiss someone he feels close to; someone he acknowledges as a partner and fellow leader. What is wrong with him? It's not as though he's being respectful of Bruce's passing interest that ended in disaster. It's just him being unable to take the next step personally as usual.

He grabs her retreating arm in a fit of frustration. Thankfully the soldier is just upset enough at himself that he doesn't look down to take in what he's done and back off in some gentlemanly (and unnecessary) gesture. "Don't. Could you please just-" He sighs in frustration at himself.
