Her cliched words hit home and he has to take a second to regroup all over again. One might think he'd be 'over' Afghanistan by now. He certainly wanted people to think that. This isn't exactly how he'd pictured their first time together, but he knows on some level it's good to get everything out in the open. Maybe she'll wise up and move on, but maybe... maybe they have a shot too.
