"How'd you know?" he's asking a little gruffly, but he doesn't have time for anything smarter before she's coming for him. He manages to twist and block her move at the last minute, realizing too late he left his midsection open for attack. Trying to move quickly back the other way, though she's in his way now, he attempts to shove her off the mat so he can prepare a proper strike.
